Dear Dhamma Friends

This is to announce that the much needed major extension and refurbishment of the London Myanmar Vihara at No 1 Old Church Lane NW9 8TG has been well under way since 1/7/08, under direct supervision of resident monks headed by Ven Sayadaw U Ku Tha La and the Britain Burma Buddhist Trust.

The foundation stone was laid on 9/7/08 and the 1250 square feet extension which will accommodate a spacious and well furnished Dhamma Hall and the Ordination Hall (Thame Hall) is gradually taking shape day by day. It is tentatively expected to take approximately 6 months to complete and the estimated cost of the extension will be in the region of £150,000.

As this is once in a life time chance, we are appealing to all of you to take this opportunity to be part of it by donating towards the cost. You of course are free to donate any amount, small or large directly to the Vihara as usual but for pragmatic reasons the following is offered as an unit item of donation,
One Unit of One Square Foot = £120

You may wish to donate any multiple of the unit either personally for you and your family or collectively with your friends. If you wish, you can even contribute a fraction of a unit. If you are using the donation boxes at the vihara, please write your particulars including dedication (e.g. in memory of your late parents etc) and please mark "Donation towards Extension Cost" on the envelope provided, for the purpose of Auditing and Acknowledgement.

Already, we have more than 300 committed donors and the list is increasing day by day. So may we cordially invite you to join us in this rare chance of making a new chapter in the history of this very first Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Vihara in London, established since 1985.
